On December 13, 2016, a lecture about"How to Learn and Practice Common Law" was successfully held which was hosted by vice President of Law School, Professor Hu Ling and at the conference room of Law School. This lecture invited executive director, Rhys Roberts and chief adviser on company business, Rhys Watson from Australia Roberts Gray Law Offices, as the speakers, brought the students a lecture in the perspective of the Australian common law practice. Professor Ezra Mitchell and Wang Jinling of our Law school attended the lectures, and exchanged their opinions.

 

Director Rhys·Roberts gave a whole description on Australia’s legal system, and emphatically talked about how to realize the transition from students to good lawyer. Chief adviser Rhys Watson made analysis and discussions on the opportunity and trend that Australia and China cooperate in the aspect of law under the tendency of globalization. In the period, a student of the common law class, named Huang Yingkai asked questions about whether Chinese students abroad are of competition in the legal market of Australia. Mr Rhys Roberts, pointed out that along with the further deepening of communication between China and Australia, Chinese students has more advantages in the field of law.

 

Director of law offices, Rhys Roberts and senior legal adviser Rhys Watson gave informative explanations which made students better combine the common law study with legal practice, deepened the understanding to the common law, expanded the students' field of vision. At last, in the warm applause, the lecture ended.
